CONTEXT
OTTO Solutions is made up of three business pillars: Lighting Design and Supply, Mechanical & Electrical works and Smart Solutions.
SCOPE
To cohesively link and future-proof the three departments, I conducted a rebrand of OTTO Solutions along with a larger SaaS Building Ecosystem.
APPROACH
The approach was conducted in three phases:
Phase 1: Rebrand of company website and online presence
Phase 2: Rebrand of company collaterals (i.e. brochures, namecards)
Phase 3: Establish Smart Solutions dept. as the lead in visual style & communications via the Smart Building Ecosystem.
PHASE 1: DIGITAL
INSIGHTS
After reviewing the three distinct departments and its proficiencies, looking at at their existing visual and communicative styles as well as gathering insights of prior customers and staff members, I was able to formulate a cohesive redesign for the company website, and align the tone and visual style of their online platforms.
PROCESS
The objectives laid out for the website redesign were:
- Streamline website navigation for users through sensible categorisation
- Communicate move to smart and sustainable business model through website, as well as company values and beliefs
- Improve terminology and content layout, and reduce industry jargon to be more palatable to ordinary visitors

PHASE 2: PHYSICAL
INSIGHTS
Once the website was refurbished and live, the next objective was to transition company collaterals, both physical and digital to conform with the new visual direction.
Since the end goal was to converge paths, both in terms of visuals and business goals, the redesign would be gradually aligned with the Smart Solutions department.
To achieve this, a style guide was established for the current company (OTTO), and its future direction (OTTO Integrated).
IDENTITY
OTTO: Italian for eight, hence an octagon representing its namesake.
Colours were chosen to match previous identity, with changes to font type and logo presets to align with the future and ease digital transition.
PHASE 3: ECOSYSTEM
OVERVIEW
Leading the company's charge into the future would be the Smart Building Ecosystem, consisting of three main platforms:
- Smart Home Platform
- Smart Office Platform
- Smart Building Management System
CUSTOMISED FOR CUSTOMER
The ecosystem was developed with a range of different technology touchpoints in mind, such as home appliances overlapping with office appliances, into larger building applications like HVAC and data analytics. From homeowner to facility manager, this ecosystem provides a multi-tier coverage of technology that can be custom-fitted and tuned to any preferred setup.
Front-end and back-end user journeys for spaces like hotels and offices, each incorporating different technology touchpoints.
